Puppy is one of Jeff Koons’ most recognisable and enduring works, translating his monumental floral sculpture into a refined porcelain edition. Originally conceived in 1992 as a monumental outdoor installation, Puppy combines the familiar form of a West Highland Terrier with an abundance of colourful flowers, creating a playful yet monumental celebration of nature, childhood and optimism.

The 1998 porcelain edition distils this iconic image into a collectible sculptural form, retaining the characteristic symmetry and highly finished aesthetic of Koons’ work. At once charming and meticulously constructed, Puppy reflects the artist’s ongoing interest in popular culture, sentimentality, mass production and the relationship between high art and everyday imagery.

Produced in an edition of 3,000 plus 50 artist’s proofs, the work has become an important and highly recognisable example of Koons’ practice.
