Benjamin Thomas Taylor

Benjamin Thomas Taylor is a British contemporary artist and painter whose vibrant, Pop Art-influenced work combines landscape, art history, text and imagination. Raised in the rural landscapes of Snowdonia and now based in London, Taylor brings together the contrasting influences of countryside and city life to create colourful, escapist worlds.

Taylor’s paintings and prints are characterised by bold blocks of colour, detailed landscapes and playful juxtapositions. His recurring paint-by-numbers imagery draws on childhood associations while questioning traditional ideas around artistic authorship and the mythology of the “genius” artist. His Love Letters to Art History series similarly reinterprets iconic artists and imagery through a distinctly contemporary lens.

Having studied painting at the University of Brighton, Taylor has exhibited widely in the UK and internationally, with his work held in private and public collections worldwide. Since his first exhibition in 2015, his work has attracted an international collector base.

Alongside his fine-art practice, Taylor has undertaken creative commissions for Nike, Atlantic Records, Rough Trade and Robbie Williams, including artwork for Paolo Nutini’s album Caustic Love.

Combining optimism, humour and art-historical reference, Taylor has developed a distinctive visual language that transforms familiar landscapes and cultural imagery into bright, imaginative worlds full of colour and possibility.
