Stanley Donwood

Stanley Donwood (b. 1968) is a British artist and writer whose distinctive practice spans painting, drawing, printmaking and graphic art. He is internationally recognised for his long-standing creative collaboration with Radiohead, for whom he has produced album artwork, promotional imagery and visual material since 1994. His work with the band has earned two Grammy Awards.

Donwood’s wider artistic practice explores themes including politics, society, war, landscape and the human relationship with the environment, often combining dark imagery, satire and experimental printmaking techniques. His distinctive visual language has developed well beyond his work for music, encompassing limited-edition prints, paintings, books and large-scale works.

He has also been the official artist for Glastonbury Festival since 2002, creating its distinctive visual identity for more than two decades. His work has been exhibited internationally, including a solo exhibition at Saatchi Gallery, London, in 2022.

More recently, Donwood was the subject of the major institutional exhibition This Is What You Get at the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, which explored his 30-year creative collaboration with Thom Yorke and Radiohead.

Based in Brighton, Donwood continues to develop an independent studio practice alongside his ongoing creative collaborations, establishing a distinctive position between contemporary art, graphic design and visual culture.
