Andrew J Millar

Andrew J Millar (b. 1983) is a British contemporary artist whose distinctive practice combines photography, manipulated Polaroid film, collage and precious materials. Based in East London, Millar has developed a highly individual approach to image-making, creating works that explore nature, beauty, memory and materiality.

Millar is recognised for his innovative use of Polaroid film, which he transforms through layering, manipulation and meticulous hand-finishing. His original works incorporate materials including 24ct gold leaf, precious metal leaf and mother of pearl, creating richly textured surfaces where photographic imagery and material intervention become integral to the finished piece.

In June 2023, Millar presented Hidden Visions, a solo exhibition at Saatchi Gallery, London, showcasing a body of work inspired by the natural world and exploring the relationship between stillness and movement.

Millar’s work continues to receive international exposure and is currently included in The Sun and The Moon: Art Inspired by the Celestial at Saatchi Gallery, London in 2026, alongside works by a selection of contemporary artists exploring humanity’s enduring fascination with the celestial.

His work has been exhibited internationally, including presentations in London, Paris, Berlin, Barcelona and New York. Through his combination of photographic processes, precious materials and considered craftsmanship, Millar has established a distinctive and recognisable position within contemporary British art.
